The War Memorial is a product of the Spring 2016 Core Design Studio at The USF School of Architecture. The project is broken into three parts: the tower, the floor and ceiling, and the wall. Individually the parts put emphasis on public space and private space as well as the harmony of the in between. The tectonics of the project create a seamless transition between each entity while celebrating the embedded or extruded portions from the site model. The importance of the components comes from the desire to expose the landscape while also stimulating the narrative of the war memorial. This is done through objects like the nodes within the landscape or even the planes or tanks resting between the tower, the floor and ceiling, and the wall.
